Since the fall of mankind, man, often through the power of the State, has sought to be God. This is a blatant attempt at disavowing the Truth of God’s Word. By denying Christ’s Lordship, and dominion legitimacy, over every realm of civilization man positions himself to take the place of God. The Dominion Mandate that was originally given to Adam is now given to the Christ. Wen Adam failed in his commission to subdue the earth; Christ succeeded. Jesus, the Messiah of God, is now the Dominion Man. This does not sit well with rebellious mankind since they refuse to have Christ as their king. This denial results in ingratitude to the God of Scripture.

No Competition

On April 16, 2009, President Obama delivered an economic speech at the Roman Catholic Georgetown University. As a condition for his address, he demanded that all religious symbols be covered and only the American flag be seen as the backdrop of his speech. This occurred again in May 2009 at the president’s address to the graduating class of Notre Dame, another Roman catholic institution. The While House gave the excuse that the backdrop of the American flag was customary for a presidential address, yet, in Obama’s address given at Planned Parenthood, he stood in front of the Planned Parenthood logo. There was no American Flag to be seen. When the State seeks to be as God, they refuse to tolerate competition. What they fail to understand is God will not tolerate competition from man who is an illegitimate, rebellious competitor.

Redefining Reality by Human Declarations

In an article in the New American of April 15th, 2009 Col. John Eidsmoe observed,

“President Barack Obama stated at a press conference in Turkey last week that we Americans “do not consider ourselves a Christian nation, or a Muslim nation, but rather, a nation of citizens who are, uh, bound by a set of values.”

Obama has made similar statements in the past. In June 2007, he told CBS, “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation — at least, not just.  We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.” Note the progression. In 2007, he said we are no longer “just” a Christian nation. Now, in 2009, he says we “do not consider ourselves a Christian nation” at all.

What is so amazingly ignorant about this statement is that it flies in the face of the historical data set forth by judicial councils. While crafting the United States Constitution, American’s founding document, on Friday September 25th 1789 one day after the first house of representatives voted to recommend in its exact wording the First Amendment, a New Jersey Congressman, Elias Boudinot proposed that the House and Senate jointly request that President Washington proclaim a day of Thanksgiving for the “Many signal favors of Almighty God.”

He said that he could…

“Not think of letting the session pass over without offering to all the citizens of the United States of joining, with one voice, in returning to Almighty God their sincere thanks for the many blessings He had poured down upon them.”

This shows that those founders of the American nation had a keen sense of God and the Christian faith. However, it was not the 1789 proclamation that began these future Thanksgiving commemorations to God. A sensitivity to the providential blessings of the Almighty began years before in America. As early as 1564, a small colony of French Huguenots established a colony in Jacksonville Florida under their leader Rene de Laudonniere. On June 30th of that year the entire colony joined together to give thanks to God by singing a Psalm of Thanksgiving and prayer, beseeching Him to continue His goodness toward them.

In 1610 after one of the harshest winters the Jamestown colonists had to endure during which many died of starvation, the colonists called for a celebration of thanksgiving.

Even in their time of great suffering and sorrow they still called or a time of Thanksgiving and Praise to God. The colony had been reduced from the original 409 members to only 60 survivors after that winter. AND YET! They still gave thanks. This is the faith that set the foundations of the American nation.

Gary DeMar comments on this incredible testimony,

Extreme hardship did not deter the survivors from turning to God in thanksgiving. The colonists prayed for help that finally arrived by a ship filled with food and supplies from England. They held a prayer service to give thanks.”

By 1619, after 38 colonists landed at a place called Berkley Hundred in Virginian, a commemoration of a yearly thanksgiving celebration was proclaimed. AND so, on December 4th 1619 Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed as a formal yearly celebration within their charter by these words,

“We ordain that the day of our ship’s arrival, in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetually kept holy, as a Day of Thanksgiving to Almighty God.”

These Christian colonists, Pilgrims and Puritans, sought to make thanksgiving a holy Day unto the LORD. It was not so much to be a secular national holiday but a Christian Holy Day. These men and women were full of the praises of God and rendered to him the Glory and thanksgiving that was His Due.

Today however, there is only blasphemy and contempt for God’s Holy day of thanksgiving – and that even among His people. If you remember in the not-too-distant past, the first attack was upon THE TEN COMMANDMENT MONUMENT. THEN IT WAS UPON Christmas. Then upon the historical statues and anything that reminded Americans of their history. Now whatever you might think of Christmas – be it Christian or Pagan – or the historical statues – the secularists saw these as just another way to Reconstruct the Future. This was a shameless attempt at what the wicked are calling the great RESET. Their mission was to cancel the Christian Culture by substituting everything UNGODLY and evil into the realm of the norm. Remove the 10 commandments and you can re-establish right and wrong according to a humanistic agenda. Remove Christmas and you erase the memory of the Coming of the King and His Dominion Kingdom. Remove the Icons of History and you can reshape history. Forget the past and you can control the future. The removal of all of these iconic symbols is an assault upon the nation and the people’s psyche in order to recreate reality.

Obama, and those of his evil ilk, think that they can recreate reality by redefining it.

Sinful Man as the Creator

God created the world with His World. He spoke reality into existence and it was Good. It was not only what was, i.e. the “IS”, it was what “Ought to be”. Rebellious man, seeking to be God, thinks that by speaking words which redefine truth and reality, he can recreate the world. Say something often enough and people start to believe it. Keep saying that American was not originally based upon Christian principles of morality, governance and law and people start believing it.

The Challenge

First: The Christian community must go on the offensive by first reminding everyone that it is the God of Scripture and not the State or the Indians, or any other entity that we are to render Thanks during the Holiday of thanksgiving or at any other time. Thanksgiving must be given to the God of Scripture in the face of Jesus Christ.

Second: Legislators at every level are to be lobbied to reinstate what was declared earlier in America according to America’s Christian history. We have the historical precedence. Let’s use it.
